Cloudy Day Beach Scene San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant Second best Old Fashioned Since I needed my final visit to Van for my mani/pedi and Rosie for a cut and color, Jeff dropped me off in Coronado and then drove Sally and Betty to Orange County again.  I took the train which is always enjoyable and took a few pictures along the way.  The very first night we stayed for free at a golf course and walked to a really cool restaurant where Jeff had The Best Old Fashioned (so far, or at least it ties with Saiko Sushi). The best food is often found in strip malls We stayed here after Panama and before our trip to Las Vegas.  This was another dry camping experience but with good bathrooms and lots of baby squirrels who lived under our parking pad.  It was this site that we finally decided that we can do without water and electricity, but PLEASE can we have internet access!  Neither Jeff nor I are really addicted to our phones and we aren’t on Facebo

Our own backyard in So Cal is really lovely! We stayed here 4 nights after our trip to Palm Springs and before Panama.  I had run through here on one of our Ragnar Relays one year.  The campground is adjacent to the water at the very northern edge of Camp Pendelton.  As it turns out, our particular spot was exactly between the water and the truck weighing and inspection station.  So, bright and early at 6:00 AM, we could hear over a loud speaker instructions to the truckers on pulling onto the scales.  Not long after that, the trains start whizzing by.  Obviously, this was not the most serene campground.  It was flat and we did get out our bikes on two days.  This was my first time in the saddle for basically a couple of years, so it was nice to just ride within the campground. During this stay, we went in to San Clemente and visited Lost Winds Brewing Company where we met the owner, Tim Thralls. Lost Winds is relatively new but getting off to an early success. Our next stop on the trip was Palm Springs for the 4th of July week.  Jeff and I had separately visited Palm Springs in the last 6 months or so, but I thought it might be a good idea to go together and check out some real estate for a potential 1031 Exchange in 2018.  To cut to the chase, I didn't set up a realtor to show us houses until I got there and that didn't work out.  It was of course a holiday week, the very low point of the season, and at least 110 degrees every day.  We drove by two houses for sale in the Racquet Club Estates area.  Jeff (somewhat) patiently drove us around the area and I quickly realized that there were very few opportunities left here and the other neighborhoods in Palm Springs really didn't suit my fancy.  I suppose it was an effective outing as I did decide against Palm Springs. Basically, it can't stand up to it's competition of Coronado for a potential rental property.  So, I am back to the idea that I will buy a 2 bedroom condo
