Travel Trailer Test Trip
Well, it is smart to work out any kinks as soon as you can
and close to home if possible. Jeff and
I arranged to pick up Betty for a weekend at the Silver Strand State Beach
which is about 5 miles from our house. We bought her in Orange County because they are the 3rd
largest retailer in the US and seemed to know their stuff. We made all the plans and went for our pick
up. Many, many hours later and after a
couple of trips to a Pep Boys and the local U-Haul, we gave up and went
home.
As it turns out and as the technicians seemed to ‘sort of’ understand, European vehicles often need to be re-programmed to accept the electrical connections for the trailer? This was our first lesson in full-time RV living: you must be flexible. Things don’t always go as planned and you need to roll with the punches. I can’t say this enough. This travel philosophy serves me just as well in Betty as it does in France or Spain. After a quick trip to the Porsche dealer, we were on our way the next weekend.
