Emily Solos in Spain - First Stop Malaga

I thought Jeff would be in Guatemala with Isabelle during this time.  However, Isabelle booked a multi-week trip to Germany and other locales for her graduation and Jeff took a motorcycle trip up to Colorado and back instead.  I was a bit nervous to travel in Europe on my own.  I am very cautious, but I have the worst sense of direction of anyone that you might possibly know.  I am certifiably helpless when it comes to directions.  So, this was my biggest challenge.  However, my strength is my organizational skills.  I can plan stuff like nobody’s business (and have learned that I shouldn’t because when people do not follow my lead, it is very frustrating).  I did thoroughly enjoy my time in Spain and am contemplating a return trip to do an intensive language course in 2018!

I flew from CDG to AMS and finally to Malaga, Spain which is on the coast and a beachy vacation type town.  Since we had set our alarms for 5am in Paris that morning and I had taken such an indirect route, I was glad that I booked a free Hilton hotel on points in Malaga for the first night.  It was a resort hotel but still very strange from my perspective.  The interior room had bright orange accent walls.  There was a balcony from which I could see women playing some sort of cross between tennis and racquetball.  It looked like tennis except they were in an enclosed glass room and could play balls off all four walls.

I decided to visit the rooftop terrace for a light dinner and drinks.  They were planning for a party that evening, so I could only walk around on one side of the terrace.  It was lovely.  I tried to fit in with the locals for free drinks, but that didn’t work out as I had hoped.  In the end I think I accidentally stiffed the waiter for a couple of drinks.  He was very busy with the party and I thought that the bill would find its way to my room.

So, no sight seeing this day but I did manage to get a picture of the very cool Austin Healey on display in the lobby.  This is a Big Healey as opposed to my Bug Eye, Holly.  For the rest of Malaga, I have my memories.
